Meteor 3.6-beta.3 is available! 
Our main 3.6 beta post is updated. Here is what has changed since its beta.1 update:
- MongoDB 8.0.29 for local development. This is the biggest migration item. Back up existing local data and set a MongoDB 7 database’s feature compatibility version (FCV) to
7.0while still running MongoDB 7 before opening it with Meteor’s MongoDB 8 bundle. Check the new Linux and Windows platform requirements in the release notes. Databases configured throughMONGO_URLare upgraded separately. - More complete Rspack 2 support. Separate entry points and configuration now work for modern browsers, older browsers, and Cordova. Rspack test discovery respects
.meteorignoreexceptions andMETEOR_IGNORE, including on Windows. Beta.3 uses@meteorjs/rspack@3.0.0-beta.3and requires@rspack/core/@rspack/cli2.2.7+ and@rspack/dev-server2.2.1+. - Reliability fixes across the framework. These cover dynamic imports after IndexedDB closes, rapid
meteor runrebuilds, workspace commands in deployment bundles, OAuth popups, Change Streams fallback, DDP messages withoutfields, generated TypeScript declarations, and instrumentation error handling.
Those product changes landed in beta.2 and are included in beta.3. The difference between the beta.2 and beta.3 tags is the release version bump and a shorter Rspack package description.
Feature freeze starts with beta.3. From this beta onward, we plan no new features for Meteor 3.6. The next prereleases will focus on bug fixes, compatibility, and stabilization toward the release candidate.
If you have an existing local database, read the migration notes before updating. Then run:
meteor update --release 3.6-beta.3
Or try a fresh app:
meteor create my-app --release 3.6-beta.3
