Actually, the role package is fairly easy to maintain. This one too, I’d like to be able to use it either on both client and server side (for MVPs), or server side only (for more advanced apps, without DDP)

Absolutely! The new link is actually in the Meteor README under developer resources, but it’s easy to pass by and this should really have an updated link as well so here it is.
