I did a bit more research and there are few articles out there highlighting this trend (no bundlers), it basically driven by native modules support by the browsers and http/2 servers.

I speculate that native ESM modules, Typescript (for complex backend systems), Deno and PWAs will start a new decade in web/mobile development beyond what the existing node/npm ecosystem has to offer.
