Apart from naming discussions, does any of you guys know the development state of Velocity?
I feel an immense lack of confidence in using an outdated project. Please prove me wrong 
AFAIK, the project has been abandoned. Seems as if it was too complex and too slow. My own experiences were mixed: I really loved the overall concept, but it was cumbersome to work with.
If you haven’t tried the core testing solution introduced in Meteor 1.3, you really should. For a lot of people it has been a complete replacement for Velocity and you don’t have to make many changes to syntax or anything. Check the Meteor testing guide: https://guide.meteor.com/testing.html
