Everybody seems to say that SVG is better than fonts, for icons. I am used to FontAwesome, it’s kind of standard, no? Where do people get their SVG icons, with the right licensing, uniform look and all?
Personally, I think fonts are better because you can align them more easily with text as well as change their color/text-shadow/size the same way you would with any other text. Personally i think IonIcons are much cleaner than FontAwesome. One think you want to keep in mind is that if your not using all of the icons dont import them all. Download the src and comment out any icons you are not using this will reduce the overhead a lot.
