For those of us that host critical applications and services on Galaxy, I think we are all thinking the same thing after the recent US-EAST-1 outage on AWS.
Galaxy should follow MongoDB’s implementation of flexibility to deploy to multi-cloud / multi-region to mitigate risks like this.

Well, you could switch to Quave (zCloud) like I did.
No outage as they run on Oracle. Just saying
Is zCloud multi-cloud or just Oracle?
I’ve mentioned this in another thread as well. We’re working on moving away from AWS. AWS will only be available for customers who want to keep using it.
After launching Redis and Postgres a few weeks ago, this multi-cloud project is now the main focus for our Cloud team. We’re not just adding more cloud providers. We’re also improving performance and security, including getting ready for SOC2 and ISO 27001 certifications. We should write a blog post about it.
Are there any other concerns you would like to share @mvogt22?

Hello @mvogt22 ,
With today’s AWS incident, we only experienced impacts on new deployments. The applications currently running on Galaxy were not affected. We use a set of tools that allow Galaxy to operate in a distributed way, and part of our infrastructure runs outside of AWS, which helps reduce this kind of risk.
This interruption lasted only a short period of time. We have a resilient infrastructure designed to handle this type of event, so Galaxy is operating normally and our customers’ applications are fully functional.
Currently, we operate in 3 AWS regions, using multiple availability zones within each region. We’ve noticed that the companies most affected are those relying on a single availability zone.
It’s important to highlight that none of our customers experienced downtime or production issues—only delays in new implementations due to the interruption. We are closely monitoring the situation with the AWS team.
We are already planning to expand to additional regions and, in the future, to launch new regions across different cloud providers as well. This will make Galaxy Cloud even more resilient and truly multi-cloud.

Multi-cloud but @filipenevola is the best person to answer your questions. I’m just a satisfied customer of them and have very little of my original infrastructure left at AWS (eg Lambda, Route53 etc).
Didn’t experience any downtime today. Thanks!
