Is there another package that can replace communitypackages:picker?
I cannot call the Meteor API from handlers implemented with this package.

Not that I know of, but Picker is going to get updates soon, so if you can put your idea into the issues we might get to it.
The alternative I know of is to use the webapp package directly. Especially in Meteor 3 it should have all the basic features that you might need as it is using Express.js underneath.
