Deploy a Meteor app on an OpenStack service?

I saw that Robert Scoble posted about Rackspace open sourcing OpenStack…

Open source software for creating private and public clouds.

OpenStack software controls large pools of compute, storage, and networking resources throughout a datacenter, managed through a dashboard or via the OpenStack API. OpenStack works with popular enterprise and open source technologies making it ideal for heterogeneous infrastructure.

Lately you might have noticed a shift in Rackspace’s strategy. We’ve invested in providing support for all sorts of different clouds, from Microsoft Azure to Amazon Web Services to OpenStack (which we developed, together with NASA, and offered as an open source platform to the world).

Could installing OpenStack on bare metal locally help budding Meteor developers test the waters of scaling and all that before committing to AWS, DO, etc etc ?

I for one am keen to try it (we have like 50 computers just sitting idle in the office… )

Or am I mad? Or drunk.

Probably.

Over to you!
