I was hoping ionic would update their atmosphere package to 1.2.1 “Amsterdam” but they haven’t yet.

Is there an easy way to manually update Ionic to 1.2.1 or is it better to continue waiting for an official package?

I agree. Last ionic version, 1.2 was released last 10th December 2015 and today we are almost two months later without a new version for Meteor (and no future release date announced). If this is going to be the policy it seems more interesting to use Ionic CLI or definitively move to a Meteor + React + React Native for Hybrid applications… sad
