We’re thrilled to announce we are registring ourself to Google Summer of Code 2026! This is a fantastic opportunity for students and new contributors to work on meaningful projects that will shape the future of the Meteor framework.
What is Google Summer of Code
?
Google Summer of Code (GSoC) is a global program that brings new contributors into open source development. Participants work on real-world projects with mentorship from experienced developers, gaining valuable skills while contributing to software used by thousands of developers worldwide.

Step 1: Join Our Discord
All GSoC communication happens in the #gsoc channel on Discord.
Join Meteor Discord and head to the #gsoc channel
This is where you’ll:
- Introduce yourself
- Ask questions about projects
- Discuss ideas with mentors
- Present your proposal
- Get feedback and support
Step 2: Explore the Codebase

Read our DEVELOPMENT.md to set up your environment.
Step 3: Start Contributing
Look for issues labeled:

Even small contributions show initiative and help you understand the codebase!
Step 4: Write Your Proposal
A strong proposal includes:
- Your background and experience
- Understanding of the project
- Technical approach and implementation plan
- Week-by-week timeline
- Communication plan
