I only have very bad experiences with Upwork, finding a Meteor dev there.
Lot’s of scammers there from a specific country, all talk and can’t even write a function to upload a file to S3 (that’s my experience). It’s also a playing field for body shops that advertise devs that don’t exist physically (they are a summary of all their projects), if you give them the deal then they go out and hire someone who claims to have the required knowledge but isn’t even part of their team.
Needless to say, I lost a lot of time but luckily no money as we agreed to move on without me having to pay anything or bringing it up to Upwork to solve a dispute. I guess they are looking for the next cow to milk, luckily not me.
