I’m not sure what you actually want to achieve, but I’ve stopped trying to print files directly from browsers. There is no API for that, just some hacks/ workarounds which works in some browsers if you’re lucky.
Adding a stylesheet for printing and using the brower’s default print dialog should work, if that’s what you want to do. If you mean by “silent printing” to print without user confirmation, I don’t think any browser will allow this.

If you Google search “css print stylesheets” you will find a lot of useful resources…
A print style sheet is a special set of CSS rules that are only applied when printing a document.
