Based on this interview, it appears that at MDG there’s a lot of energy and excitement going into the future of Meteor:

Plenty of clever marketing buzzwords, but no useful content. Not even once is Apollo mentioned in the whole article, and Apollo is supposed to be what MDG is working on right now.
I had the response of being excited to see the Meteor-centric focus. (And I’m having a great experience using Apollo with Meteor).
