JS Nation 2025 planning

JS Nation is going to be in Amsterdam on June 12th (but really 11th~14th). It is going to be tough, but I’m considering applying to become a speaker.
What I’m interested to hear is what kind of talk would you like me to give?
Also, would anyone interested in attending if I go?

Go for it! However, I’d suggest to rather think about what the audience at JSN wants to hear (rather than us). This is a huge event and submissions to these events are usually evaluated on their universal relevancy in regards to their target audience (that pays big fees). So I would ask, if there is something we as community and Meteor as tech can provide that’s useful to an audience that usually doesn’t even know we/it exist and what other communities/tech do not provide or do differently.

To give a few ideas:

  • it would be very insightful to show others how branding and reputation can (despite biggest efforts) influence the entire history of a platform
  • Pros and Cons of custom package systems - a long-term perspective
  • financing and maintaining open source when big tech is not around the corner
  • opinionated vs. flexible - pros, cons, benefits and tradeoffs (and why being in between them is the worst of both worlds)
  • experiences from a major migration

Some of these require more in depth preparation, such as deep qualitative surveys and interviews but I think this is the level this conferences operates on.
