Check the migration guides and breaking changes on the docs site Changelog | Meteor API Docs. You’ll need to go through every version with breaking changes between 1.8.1 and 2.5.3 to make sure you migrate anything appropriately. v1.10.1 in particular mentions cordova which may be helpful
