📡 TRANSMISSION #19: Help pick topics

It’s time to plan TRANSMISSION show #19!

I will be talking with MDG team members about whatever the most interesting topics have been for the last month or so, and I’d like to get your help with that.

Reply here and let us know which recent topics are the most important to you!

TRANSMISSION is a monthly show covering the most important topics to come out of the Meteor Forums. Each month we need your help to pick the most relevant forum posts for us to discuss with MDG.

Some more information about the plans for Kadira APM would be good.

I would like to know more about Vulcan, is this the meteor/apollo integration of the future ?

Also I would love to have some feedbacks on the state of the meteor/cordova binding, I mean a year ago I presented Meteor as a way to have Web + iOS + Android app at no cost, but there seem to be not so much momemtum right now around mobile/cordova integration.

Which leads to the third topic, meteor-client-side : clarifications around possible use cases could be awesome.

Again, thanks pauldowman and stubailo for taking time to do this podcast, this has great value for me as a meteor developper.

I would like to talk about both of those! Thanks!

Especially since in many parts of Europe it is getting more and more mobile first as a result of high smartphone usage, available bandwith and affordable data bundles. It would be good to learn about the views and future directions regarding mobile framworks from a Meteor perspective.

+1 on the Meteor client bundler

A brief discussion on Apollo Client 1.0 and the helpfulness of the new .graphql package: New: import .graphql files in Meteor!

These are all great topic suggestions, thanks everyone! You still have a few hours before we go to record :]

While you talk about Cordova, I guess it would also be good to talk about your intentions for progressive web apps.

Would be curious to hear if source maps for production are on the roadmap. See this github issue which is currently the 4th most voted issue.

With Modulus/Xervo closing up shop, would MDG ever consider acquiring Modulus (like it did with Kadira) and offering HIPAA compliant AWS hosting?

We’re not going to acquire Modulus but we’re happy to help people move their hosting onto Galaxy!

I’m excited to hear what Paul and Sashko have to say about Vulcan (if they cover it), but I think it’s important to mention that Vulcan is very opinionated, and very tailored towards a certain use case (quickly building relatively standard CRUD apps with forms, paginated lists, etc.).

So there are probably lots of uses cases where you’ll want to use Meteor and Apollo together, but where Vulcan might not fit the bill.

EDIT: also, I haven’t moved stuff to the new GitHub org yet, in the meantime you can check out http://vulcanjs.org

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, and thanks again to @sashko for doing this.

@sashko Is there some job description regarding the Meteor evangelist position?
