Every time I go see the Top posts of the forum, it shows the Top posts for the Year, which is not desirable because I want to the latest Top posts (at least for the Month or Week).

You can easily select what you need:
So yes, the default is set to year and for you that means two extra mouse clicks. But I hope you can live with that.
