Why do i have to dowload meteor updates even if i don't want them?

I do not know how exactly the updating process works but i have a problem with it.
Yersterday my work was interrupted for about 6 hours due to

Downloading meteor-tool@1.4.0…

I couldn’t lauch my app because of forced download process which was constantly freezing, shutting down and so forth and so on.
What if i don’t even want to update?
This process is always repeating itself every other major update. It’s not the first time my work is interrupted for a whole day. It’s sad because i have things to do and deadlines to reach.
Can you do something about it, MDG folks?

I notice the same. A simple meteor create test_project does not work anymore because it is trying to download and install 1.4.0. But for whatever reason it does not succeed with it.

What if I don’t want to create a new project with 1.4.0 but with my existing 1.3.5_1?

I experienced this today and wasted 3 hours of my time. This is really annoying especially for people who doesn’t have a good connection. We just want to write codes for our app we will update when we are ready.
