Why MDG should always, always, always support SQL

Sorry for the semi-clickbait-slash-confusing title. It’s a poke at the title of this one:

http://cryto.net/~joepie91/blog/2015/07/19/why-you-should-never-ever-ever-use-mongodb/

This kind of MongoDB-hating continues to swirl around out there, and excepting his “is a nightmare to scale and maintain”, there are a good list of objectively documented issues with Mongo.

It will be really nice when Meteor supports SQL or other DBs, so we no longer have to be tarred with the same brush.

Are these attacks against MongoDB still valid 2 years on? In my two years using Meteor with Mongo I haven’t had any issues, and it doesn’t seem like other members of the Meteor community have either.

Losing data seems to be a massive issue if it happens, but when do things like that happen?

There are some useful comments on crater regarding this article.
